Brian Cox announces the winner of the 2016 “Booker Prize for Science Writing”

The Royal Society Insight Investment Science Book Prize 2016 has been awarded to Andrea Wulf for “The Invention of Nature”. This is a biography of Alexander von Humboldt, who was one of the first Honorary Members of YPS, elected in 1824. Humboldt (1769-1859) was an explorer, naturalist and foreign member of The Royal Society. He was known as “the Shakespeare of the sciences” but  is no longer well known in the English- speaking world.
