British Bats in the Anthropocene
Dr James Aegester
As with many things in the natural world, bats and their interactions with man are changing fast. Whilst the consequences of this are most obviously seen abroad, British bats are facing their own accelerating challenges. Unfortunately, our understanding of how these may manifest, or might be mitigated is surprisingly poor. I hope to present an intellectual repast of wholesome savouries which may stint on the sugar but may well surprise. Entrée will be a bluffers guide to bats which will have an unapologetic nationalistic flavour. To follow will be a plate of interesting research themes alongside an outline of the pressures bats face in the modern world, all seasoned with local produce. Dessert will be a peek into some possible futures for British bats. Enjoy!’
