We have pleasure in inviting you to the Churchill Hotel on 22nd October for the one formal occasion in our calendar when with the help of good food, conversation and company we look back at the year gone by and ahead to what is to come.

This year our Principal Guest will be Dr Ron Clayton who, in his own words, arose in Wagga Wagga, N.S.W., from which he descended on the History Department at the University of York in 1970, where he taught History and Literature for more years than he is now capable of remembering. He also likes to refer to himself, with a high degree of truth, as the late Provost of Langwith College.  He promises to share with us his thoughts on History and Fiction.

We look forward to seeing you on October 22nd.,

Stephen Lusty

Chairman

Programme

From 7 pm members will be welcomed into the elegant Blenheim Room to enjoy a welcoming glass of sherry, wine or fruit juice.

Dinner will be served at 7.30 pm in the Westminster Room where a wide choice of drinks will be available for purchase by the bottle or the glass during the meal.

Coffee will be served at our tables after the meal.

Carriages may be ordered for 10.30 pm.  We occasionally finish later than that and hotel staff are happy to order taxis when guests wish to leave.  The comfortable bar will be available for our use as long as we choose to stay.

Dress code is dinner jacket or lounge suit.

The Churchill Hotel has some rooms available for guests wishing to stay overnight.  Please telephone them on 01904 644456.

We do hope that you will be able to come and enjoy this special occasion.  Please telephone me if I can help with any information or special needs.  My numbers are 01904 421744 and 07768 252936.
