Event Information

Yorkshire Philosophical Society President’s Evening

We have pleasure in inviting you to the Churchill Hotel on 24th October for the one formal event in the YPS calendar, when we celebrate the start of a new lecture season with good food and good company.

Our principal guest will be Darrell Buttery, DL.  President of the York Civic Trust and a former Chairman of York Georgian Society, Darrell is an expert on the architecture and cultural heritage of York and its region especially over the past 300 years.  A professional educator, he has taught in several York area schools and is currently engaged on a history of Pocklington School to celebrate its 500th anniversary. A collector and a connoisseur, Darrell is also something of a diarist with a sharp eye for what goes on in and around the City and a trenchant turn of phrase.  We hope that, as a YPS member since 1969, he will also give us the benefit of his observations of Society activities over the years.

The evening’s programme is overleaf and we look forward to seeing you on October 24th.

Stephen Lusty
Chairman

Coffee will be served at our tables after the meal.

Carriages may be ordered for 10.30 pm, but the comfortable bar will be available for our use as long as we choose to stay.
