A major YPS project is underway

The Yorkshire Philosophical Society is proposing to sponsor the installation of  a very high profile and quality “WALK-ON” map in the Museum Gardens in York

The map is to feature as the centerpiece of a new Garden of Yorkshire Flowers which The York Museums Trust is in the process of creating, and will celebrate the 200th anniversary of William Smith’s revolutionary 1815 Geological map, immortalised in Simon Winchester’s book as “The map that changed the world”

Negotiations are taking place with with a number of designers who work with natural stone, pebbles and mosaic to enable us to choose an authentic and aesthetic way of representing the Yorkshire section of the map.
