More birds … or not

This morning a rare visit from a goldcrest, picking about for insects on the vertical face of a brick wall, got the day off to a good start. Yesterday ended with another insect hunter, airborne this time. As dusk fell, an impression of flickering movement, a dark shape disappearing into the gloom only to reappear a few feet away, more like something from science fiction than nature study, as a little bat darted around.

Followers of this blog (if any) may like to know that it will not be appearing this Thursday, as I have the day off. My plan A was a trip to London with friends to visit the Tutenkhamun exhibition; plan B is a spot of very long overdue spring-cleaning – I may discover “wonderful things”!
