The Clerk in the Country
Tuesday 7th July 2020
Despite his title, the first earl of Sheffield didn’t perhaps spend much time in Yorkshire. His principal home was Sheffield Park in Sussex, where he had the house rebuilt in gothick style by James Wyatt, while Capability Brown and Humphrey Repton both worked on the grounds. The beautiful gardens have been in the ownership of the National Trust since 1954 and happily have now re-opened with advance booking.
