The Clerk in the Country
Friday 5th February 2021
In contrast to last February the fields round here look much as they should. Yes, there is, in places, water where no water ought to be, but in general crops are germinating according to plan.
My first visit of 2021 to the field where I followed the progress of a crop of wheat through last spring and summer revealed something that to my untutored eye looks like kale, but I’m reliably informed is oil seed rape. I hope to have pictures of a dazzling display of yellow in a few months’ time.
