Seeing off a rival

Some birds are fiercely territorial, particularly at this time of year.  When a handsome Pied Wagtail, happening to perch on the door handle of the car, spotted another wagtail on the handle further along, the impudence was not to be tolerated.  Half a dozen frenzied assaults were made on the intruder, but every time the first bird returned to its perch, so did the second.  Eventually the car had to be put back in the garage to avoid injury, either to wagtail or wing mirror.
