Charles Wellbeloved and Herman Ramm Awards

The 2014 winners of the Charles Wellbeloved and Herman Ramm Awards are respectively Alexandra Martin-Geary and Rose Harris Adamson. Introducing the winners John Schofield, Head of the Department of Archaeology at the University of York, said “Both produced outstanding and original pieces of work, and are worthy of these awards. Celebrating our students’ achievements is one of the high points in my role as Head of Department and amongst (if not the) most prestigious of the prizes our students can win are the two offered by the Yorkshire Philosophical Society. Across the Archaeology Department the Society’s support continues to be very much appreciated.”

Alexandra Martin-Geary was awarded the Charles Wellbeloved prize for her undergraduate dissertation entitled ‘Bone of Contention. Treponema Pallidum: A literature and analysis’.

Rose Harris Adamson was awarded Herman Ramm prize for her postgraduate dissertation ‘Exploring Significance: Revisiting the Greater Church of Beverley Minster.’
