Geological Map almost complete

In the last few days, visitors to Museum Gardens who have taken the new pathway past the pavilion will have spotted the diminutive frame of artist Janette Ireland hard at work. She has been installing the giant jigsaw pieces which she had created, to form the stunning mosaic representation of the Yorkshire section of William Smith’s 1815 geological map. The mosaic will be covered for a few more days while the grouting cures, and it will then be ready to be admired by visitors to the Ceramics Fair, before the official unveiling on September 23rd, and the public launch on September 29th.
