In 2007 York Archaeological Trust began publishing its Oral History Series of books by Van Wilson, a series supported by the Yorkshire Philosophical Society. To coincide with the 2012 Olympic Games, York Archaeological Trust decided to run a project about Olympic sports in York. The new book, entitled “It’s How You Play the Game: Olympic Sports in York” celebrates 25 different Olympic sports and York men and women practitioners who have represented local clubs and societies, with some going on to represent York, Yorkshire and, occasionally, England.
