Tempest Anderson Exhibition

The University of York Library invites YPS members to view a free small exhibition in the University Library between 9th April to 1st July, based on their Tempest Anderson resources.

The focus is to give an overview of this York polymath, and his impact across a range of fields including:

· Role as an ophthalmic surgeon at York County Hospital and his input to developments in methods/instrumentation around ophthalmology

· Role as a civic activist/leader in York – including his interest in town planning, sanitation, waterworks, preservation of historic buildings

· Role as a respected geologist, photographer and volcanologist

· Role in the learned societies of York: Yorkshire Philosophical Society and York Medical Society.

Entry to the Library is free but car parking is limited and it is advisable to travel to the university by public transport. Visitor Information
