YPS Paralympian Speaker Wins Silver Medal

If you were at the YPS Family Sports Lecture last March for Science and Engineering Week, where two of our Paralympians answered questions from the audience, you will probably remember Claire Cashmore as one of the speakers.  Claire, who was an entertaining and highly lucid interviewee, won Olympic Silver yesterday in the 100m backstroke. Claire, born without a left forearm jokes that the she lost it in a shark attack. This was her 3rd Olympics. In Athens and Beijing she won gold. In London 2012 it was silver. Claire lives in Leeds and is just the latest in a long line of Olympic successes from Yorkshire  at the London Games. Claire studied for a a Linguistics degree at Leeds.  A message of congratulation has been sent from YPS.
