Event Information

Our plasma future
By Dr Kate Lancaster, York Plasma Institute, The University of York, UK

Plasma, the fourth state of matter, is truly remarkable to study. It is the stuff of stars, lightning, and the Aurora! However – this other worldy state of matter has had and will continue to have a large impact in our lives. From fusion energy in the hottest plasmas on earth, to using plasma’s antimicrobial properties to treat wounds, the future is bright!

Dr Kate Lancaster has been involved in many TV and radio science programmes – primarily for the BBC. She is also the newly appointed plasma and fusion industrial officer at the York Plasma Institute, which is the national centre of excellence for plasma and fusion studies.
