‘Yorkshire’s greatest furniture maker’ Thomas Chippendale tour

at HAREWOOD HOUSE with a Christmas afternoon tea

Tuesday 4th December 2018 – £30 / per person by private car

Harewood House is the ‘home’ to one of the largest collections of Chippendale furniture in this country.  Thomas Chippendale was born only a few miles away in Otley and worked in Harewood House from 1767. In this tour we shall learn more about the contribution made by this great artistic man, his son and his workforce.

Harewood House is a country house in Harewood near Leeds. It was designed by architects John Carr and Robert Adam, built between 1759 and 1771 for wealthy plantation owner Edwin Lascelles, 1st Baron Harewood.  The House has strong connections to the Royal Family.  In December its elegant interior design will be enhanced with its Christmas decorations and there will be time for you to explore these at your leisure.

Included in the cost is also a Christmas tea which consists of a selection of sandwiches, cranberry and cinnamon cream scones, a slice of Christmas cake and a mince pie served with Yorkshire tea or filter coffee.

Meeting time and place to be advised later.  If you would like to join this tour, please return the booking form below to the Organiser, Manuela Sowter, at the Lodge, by 1st November with your cheque. YPS terms and conditions apply.  See the website https://tinyurl.com/yps-act-t-c or ask at the Lodge.
