There are many reasons to become a member of the Yorkshire Philosophical Society….

FREE ENTRY TO LECTURES
Membership of YPS allows entry to all YPS lectures throughout the year.
While the annual lecture programme is open to the general public, non-members are invited to make a contribution of £3 per lecture.
All are invited to refreshments in the Lodge with the opportunity to meet the speaker and other members after lectures.

FREE ENTRY TO THE YORKSHIRE MUSEUM
The Yorkshire Museum is part of the heritage of The Yorkshire Philosophical Society and members have the privilege of free access.

EVENTS FOR MEMBERS
Throughout the year, many special events for members are organised, including:

  • Full and half-day excursions to places of interest in Yorkshire and beyond
  • Behind the scenes visits to museums, university research facilities, historic buildings and other venues
  • Informal social evenings and gatherings
  • The annual formal President’s Evening Dinner
  • An annual study tour in the UK or overseas

The website is currently being updated so that all items are publicly available including:

  • Reports, useful links, photos and videos on past lectures
  • Reports and photo galleries for past visits and excursions
  • Extracts from the Annual Report
  • Special articles by speakers and other members
  • Selection of options for receiving personal email announcements for forthcoming lectures, visits and social events
  • Facility to download periodic newsletters
  • PUBLICATIONS
    Members receive a hard-copy of the YPS Annual report which includes reports on the activities of the Society throughout the year and also special articles of scientific and historical interest.
    Discounts are offered to members on a range of leaflets, books and prints available from the YPS.

    THE LODGE READING ROOM
    Members may use the reading room and can access the members’ library on the first floor of The Lodge.
