Kennet and Avon Country Tour

Event Information

A 5-day, 4 night coach tour based on comfortable 3* Mercure Hotel near Swindon

The opening of a 57 mile canal linking the river Avon at Bath to the river Kennet at Newbury created a new communication artery across southern England. This was to be followed in later years by the Great Western Railway line and more recently the M4 motorway. But other peoples, way back in time also appreciated this stretch of countryside, as witnessed by their ancient constructions at the World Heritage sites of Stonehenge and Avebury, visits to both of which will be included in this tour. Barrows and earthworks are widespread and the 3000 year old White Horse of Uffington proudly prances across the Berkshire Downs. Amongst other places to be visited will be the historic cities of Oxford, Bath, and Salisbury with their many places of interest.
