Event Information

John Schofield is Professor in Archaeology at the University of York, where he researches archaeologies of the contemporary world and heritage studies. He is a Fellow of the Society of Antiquaries of London and a Corresponding Fellow of the Australian Academy of the Humanities.

In this talk, John will draw on nearly 40 years of experience to both define what is meant by contemporary archaeology, and to discuss some of the ways in which contemporary archaeologists can use their methods and insights to help resolve some of the problems that are threatening planetary health and security.

This event is at our new venue, FortyFive Vinyl Café at 29 Micklegate, York YO1 6JH   which we are trialling over the autumn courtesy of co-owner Ian Reid. Hot drinks and alcoholic/non-alcoholic refreshments will be available from Vinyl Café’s bar.
